Jesus wants to teach us how to live well in his Father’s kingdom. To do so is to embody love. And to embody love, we must learn to live at the speed of love. That is the speed of Jesus walking leisurely alongside you. It’s the relaxed speed of him listening to you, caring for you, comforting you, laughing with you, teaching you.

Jesus never seemed pressured by time. No matter the circumstance, he never rushed his apprentices. He never said to them “Cmon guys! Hurry up! We’re late.” Jesus seemed to have only one speed and it was never fast. He knew that hurry was incompatible with love.
