Exposed

Sins seem to be more manageable in the dark. We prefer to keep them, and the shame they produce, tucked out of sight.

Out of sight, out of mind.

But keeping our sins concealed enslaves us. Secrecy empowers sins and shame. It allows them to fester and enforce patterns of darkness in our lives.

Exposing them is the key. You can either wait until they’re exposed, caught in guilt, shame, and consequences. Or you can choose to expose them.

Freedom is walking through the doorway of confession, crossing the threshold of truth. This requires humility, honesty, and vulnerability in a community of trust. It can open us to God’s presence, breaking sins’ hold and aiding in our healing and transformation.

“Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed.” James 5:16
