This early morning I had the wonderful privilege of enjoying a quiet drizzly morning at my favorite park. Since summer is quickly approaching, I realize this may be the last time in the next several months that I’ll have this experience.
As I walked in the near silence, small details grabbed my attention. An older couple enjoying a peaceful breakfast at one of the picnic tables. The humming of bees in one of the trees. A father taking his young son on a bike ride. Water droplets hanging underneath a handrail.
At each moment, I was thankful that I had a chance to experience it, even if for the briefest moment. These little details make life robust and vibrant.
I’m sure they will fade from my memory as I proceed through the events of my day. But as my life intersected these small moments this morning, they drew me into reflection, gratitude and prayer.
